I'm a dog groomer. I used to make a living as a proofreader and editor...until spell-check put an end to the perceived need for that work. Then I worked as a computer production specialist, creating files in Quark, InDesign, etc., for people to have professionally printed...until products like Microsoft Publisher made everyone a do-it-yourself expert. {Where's the "insert sarcasm" button on a PC when you need one?} But I don't think it's likely Microsoft will come out with "PC Groomer" software anytime soon. And I like my four-footed clients: some kiss you, some bite you, and some piss on you...which is not all that different from the corporate world. I still earn some money as a freelance proofreader for clients who have learned that spell-check can't tell the difference between an admonition to "Get it done!" and one to "Get it down!"

I own two retired racing greyhounds. Sam (fka Stat K Sam), born 10 May 2000, has been with me since 5 October 2002. Jacey-Kasey (Jacey, fka Pinerun Torri), born 19 May 2003, has been with me since 8 April 2006. My darling Oreo, born 20 November 1997, came to me 17 November 2001; she died during orthopedic surgery 30 March 2006, when a blood clot broke loose and traveled to her lungs. She is missed very much. I work with a local greyhound rescue group (SEGA at www.greyhoundadoption.org).

I read a lot and have been active in BookCrossing (www.bookcrossing.com) and attend local meetups. And I dabble in genealogy. I hate to travel and am happy to spend my vacation time curled up on the sofa with a book and a dog (or two).

I've recently (July 2007) become active on Ravelry.com, where I'm known as KathyInGeorgia. I'm revising old craft-related posts, making copies that will be public so they will link to the Ravelry site. Memes and personal information posts will be left as private or friends-only.
